Spring 2020 Update

Like it has been for most of you, 2020 has been a very challenging year at the farm. The good news is that our alpacas, dogs and cats have been and continue to be safe and healthy. And Kathy and I are safe as well–for now.

That’s more than we can say for our business. We have been officially closed since March 13th due to our governor’s strong but necessary response to the coronavirus outbreak, and expect to remain closed until at least May 15th. Beyond that, we just have to wait and see. Our next big challenge will be shearing, which is currently scheduled for early June. Shearing is an intense activity since, as prey animals, alpacas really don’t like the process. We are now focusing on how we can make sure that the alpacas and the humans can remain safe and healthy throughout this year’s shearing.

We look forward to a time when we can reopen to visitors, but rest assured that we will do that only when we can be sure that we and our visitors be safe.
